About this print
Hubs that turn standard craft (popsicle) sticks into a geodesic sphere or dome, with no cutting. A full sphere uses 12 five-way and 30 six-way hubs.
A class build about triangles and strength, and a link to Buckminster Fuller's domes, footballs and the C60 molecule.
Design by flipmarley on Printables, shared under CC BY-SA 4.0. The files and photos are the designer's, unchanged.
Printing and using it
- Print one hub first and adjust XY size compensation until a stick fits snugly but not too tight (tight sticks snap).
- For a half dome: 6 five-way hubs, 10 six-way hubs, and 5 each of the left and right base hubs.
- Follow the markings: A sockets meet A' sockets, B meets B.
- Test strength: how much weight can the dome hold?
