About this print
A marble run in the shape of a Hilbert curve, a fractal that, step by step, fills a whole square. Each quarter of the run looks like the whole run: the mark of a fractal.
Nature uses the same trick to pack a lot of surface into a small space (brains, intestines).
Design by moebio on Printables, shared under CC0 1.0 (public domain). The files and photos are the designer's, unchanged.
Printing and using it
- Print with very low infill (3%). Use a 7 mm ball bearing as the marble.
- Students draw the first three steps of the Hilbert curve on squared paper.
- Find the smaller copies of the whole run in the model.
