About this print

A small plant cell, cut into its organelles so each one prints in its own colour: cell wall, membrane, nucleus and nucleolus, central vacuole, chloroplasts, mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi apparatus and vesicles. It is quick to print and uses little filament, so you can make one per group.

Students assemble the cell and name each part and its job, and compare it with the animal cell model (no wall, no chloroplasts, no large vacuole).

Printing and using it

  1. Add colour changes in the slicer: at 0.60 mm for the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus, and at 3.20 mm and 4.20 mm for the chloroplasts (green thylakoids at 4.20 mm).
  2. Print the organelles in different colours, or in one colour and let students paint them.
  3. Groups assemble the cell and label each part with its function.
  4. Compare with the animal cell: what does a plant cell have that an animal cell does not, and why?
