Tipping Bucket Rain Gauge

About this print
An automatic rain gauge: rain fills a small see-saw bucket that tips, and a magnet passes a reed switch each time. One tip is 0.2 mm of rain.
Students learn how a sensor turns a physical event into a count, then log rainfall with an Arduino or ESP32 and chart it over weeks.

Printing and using it
- Everything prints without supports. A 0.6 mm nozzle is faster for the big parts. Use PETG and UV-resistant paint for outdoor use.
- Fit a 5 × 2 mm round magnet and a reed switch.
- Calibrate: pour a measured amount of water and count tips; adjust the screws under the bucket.
- Connect to a microcontroller and log rainfall per day.
