Weather Station: Wind Vane and Anemometer

About this print
The wind part of a complete, modular DIY weather station: a cup anemometer for wind speed and a vane for wind direction, read by reed switches or an AS5600 magnetic sensor.
A real data project: students build the sensors, connect them to a microcontroller, and log and chart the weather at school.
Design by Harry on Printables, shared under CC BY 4.0. The files and photos are the designer's, unchanged.
Printing and using it
- Print in PETG (or ASA) so it survives sun and rain outdoors.
- Choose the reed switch or the AS5600 version of the vane, and print the matching mount.
- Wire the sensors to an Arduino or ESP32 and count anemometer turns per second.
- Calibrate against a hand-held anemometer or a car ride on a calm day.
