About
What is the Number Line Builder?
The Number Line Builder is an interactive, visual graphing application designed to help students master single-variable inequalities. Rather than just selecting multiple-choice answers, students physically construct the mathematical logic on a responsive digital canvas. They must determine the correct numerical placement, decide between open and closed data points, and establish the directional flow of the solution set.
Mathematical Perspectives
This module focuses entirely on algebraic representation, set theory, and graphical logic mapping.
Inclusive vs. Exclusive Sets
A major hurdle in early algebra is understanding the difference between `<` and `<=`. By requiring the student to physically tap the dot to toggle it between an "open" ring (exclusive) and a "filled" circle (inclusive), the physical action reinforces the mathematical difference.
Directional Magnitude
Pulling the directional arrow teaches students about infinite sets. Dragging the arrow to the right visually demonstrates that numbers are increasing toward positive infinity, perfectly matching the logic of the "Greater Than" symbol.
Spatial Coordinate Mapping
The infinite, pannable canvas forces students to understand the relative placement of numbers on a continuous axis, especially focusing on negative integers which commonly cause spatial confusion for young learners.
